National Library Day 2019

                 The department of Library organizes various events to celebrate National Library Day on 31.08.2019. The program aims to build awareness hone various skills and promote library services through a whole new perspective. There are various events which are to be conducted on this occasion. 156 number of students from various departments had participated and got many prizes.

The First Book Exhibition in Sri S.Anantharamakrishnan Library was arranged in association with Higginbothams (P) Ltd, Palayamkottai in the Conference Hall on 11.03.2015 & 12.03.2015 ( 2 Days )

As usual the Saraswathi Booja was celebrated this year also in our College on 2nd October 2014.  

 

 

 

 

The celebrations were held at Sri S. Anantharamakrishnan Library at 9.00 a.m.

 

 

 

 Special booja was performed to Goddess Saraswathi Devi  and prasadhas were distributed.

 NAAC Re- Accreditation CYCLE 2 PEER TEAM VISIT

              NAAC Re- Accreditation CYCLE 2 Peer Team visited our college from 18- 20, September  2014.     

                They visited Sri. S. Anantharamakrishnan Library on 19th September 2014. They planted tree saplings in the garden in front of the library. They saw the Librarian's chamber in which the Integrated software's server functions. 

            They also saw the control unit of the surveillance cameras, Library website and blog. They inspected the e- Gate, OPAC, Reference Section, Journals and News Papers section , Fully air conditioned Digital Library and the Conference Hall. 

            They inquired about the healthy practices like Question paper e-mail service, Best user of library awards and students' hand written magazines. 

           They also asked about the  future plans of the Library.

 NAAC (Mock) PEER TEAM VISIT

  NAAC Mock Peer Team visited our College Library under the Chairmanship of Former Vice Chancellor of Bharathiar and Noorul Islam

 

    

 

                                      

Universities Dr. S. Siva subramanian. Dr. A. Francis, Former Principal of  V.O.C College and Dr. C.V. Mythili, Asso. Prof. and Head of Rani Anna Govt. Arts College for Women on 2nd September 2014.

 They were accompanied by the Principal Dr. S. Kalyanaraman and  IQAC and NAAC Coordinators Dr. K.Subramanian and Dr. R. Venkartraman of our College.

                                                    

 

They visited all the sections in the library and verified the infrastructure facilities available and various services Sri. S. Anantharamakrishnan Library provides to the students and staff.

First a brief introduction of the library resources and services available was given by the librarian Dr. S. Surianarayanan through power point presentation in the Library Conference Hall. 

 

 

Later on they were taken to Library tour starting from the Digital Library section. They visited Stack room, News papers, Periodicals and Journals Section, Reference section, Xeroxing corner, 

 

  

Lamination and Bar-coding services, Technical section, Circulation counter, Surveillance Cameras, OPAC, E-Gate and finally the Librarian's chamber.

ACS: AN AWARENESS AMONG STUDENTS

 

The Department of Commerce conducted an awareness programme on  Company Secretary to the    B.Com students at the Conference Hall  in Sri.         S. Anantharamakrishnan Library on 28th August 2014.                                                   

Prof. A. Sisubalan, Head of the Department of Commerce presided over the function. 

Dr. K.Subramanian, IQAC Coordinator delivered the welcome address. Dr. S. Surianarayanan, Librarian gave the felicitation.  Mr. Mariappan, Company secretary Practitioner, Chennai an old student of our college delivered the guest lecture on ACS. 

 

Students asked various questions and doubts and got the clarifications. Dr. V.Ganapathi Sankarakrishnan, Department of Commerce proposed vote of thanks.

PRE Ph.D PRESENTATION

Pre Ph. D presentation in Library and Information Science was held at the Conference Hall in    Sri. S. Anantharamakrishnan Library  on 12th December 2013. Dr. S. Surianarayanan, Librarian and the Research supervisor coordinated the programme and welcomed the gathering. 

         Dr. S. Kalyanaraman, Principal in charge felicitated. The Ph.D candidate Mr. N. Selvaganapathi, the Librarian of Pioneer Kumarasamy College, Nagercoi explained his research work "Utilisation of services INDEST-AICTE Consortium among the engineering students in Anna University and its affiliated Engineering colleges" through power point presentation. 

Faculty Members, Research Scholars and P.G students of various disciplines especially from the department of Commerce and Physics totally of thirty took active part in interaction and asked clarifications and gave so many suggestions. Library Staff K.Kannan, Srinivasan  Esakkiammal and Saraswathi have made all the arrangements for the programme.

National Library week

National Library Week Celebrations will be held all over India from 14th November 2013 onwards. Readers' Forums in the libraries will actively involve themselves in the week long programmes along with the Institutional Libraries and conduct various competitions and awareness programmes to their readers.
